What brought you to yoga? What keeps you coming back to yoga?
I came to yoga from an injury I had through playing rugby; I had many injuries and was advised to take on something "different". I started doing yoga, and loved it! My practice has shifted through the years going from more of a power practice, to hot yoga primarily - and now I find I love more slow, restorative based classes to complement other things I'm doing in life (biking, weights etc.). I keep coming back to yoga because it makes me feel good - I love the way I feel after a class and know that I won't regret getting to a practice!
What pose(s) are you currently working with (favourite, challenged by etc.)?
I've been having a lot of struggles with my left hamstring lately. I have found myself drawn to Half-Moon and variations of this pose in order to strengthen and stretch out my legs (inner hamstrings and more). The pose is also just amazing for general balance, concentration and there are so many variations which I also love!
Why Liberty Life Yoga?
Liberty Life Yoga started by coincidence! It was something we had been challenged by in our teaching (large class sizes; students getting injured in classes because the room was so large and people were crammed into the space; spaces not feeling community focused etc. etc.) -- we wanted to create a space where people who may not identify themselves as a "yogi" would feel comfortable and included to take part in the practice.
Words of Wisdom for someone thinking of trying (Liberty Life) Yoga?
For anyone wanting to try yoga - give it a go! It can be so intimidating stepping into a class and feeling overwhelmed by the postures - but at the end I feel you won't regret it! This is also why I love Liberty Life - we max our classes out at 6-10 people. This is so everyone gets one on one attention, and feels comfortable asking questions and connecting with others over the practice! :)
