What's your name?
  • Ildiko (aka. Dee)
What brought you to yoga? What keeps you coming back to yoga?
  • I’ve been practicing yoga for over 13 years. When I first started, I was working out regularly and yoga seemed like a natural complement to my fitness routine. After a few yoga classes, I was officially hooked. I loved each of the poses as well as the openness I felt during the class but most of all, the feeling I had after each class. Regardless of how I felt going in, I always felt better coming out. Now, my practice not only helps me get through tough situations but it also helps me disconnect from the hustle and bustle of living in the city. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in our daily lives and yoga allows me to be more deeply connected, live in the present moment and be mindful in everything I do. I can’t imagine my life without my yoga practice.
What pose(s) are you currently working with (favourite, challenged by etc.)?
  • I love every single pose for different reasons and it constantly changes based on what I’m experiencing in my life at the time. The pose I’m currently working with is the forearm balance and inversions in general. The toughest thing for me was to get upside down. It was psychological as I had this irrational fear of being inverted. I was determined to get over it and conquer my fear. Now I absolutely love them and want to continue to grow my practice with more inversions. These poses literally turn your world upside down and there’s something so beautiful and freeing from experiencing the world from this angle.
Why Liberty Life Yoga?
  • I first came across Liberty Life Yoga when they were offering classes in Liberty Village Park in the summer. I was really drawn to their sense of community and warm welcome. Since I’ve started teaching with them, I realized that I really love their smaller class sizes as it makes it more accessible for students. Whether it’s through hands-on adjustments or answering questions after class, it gives students the opportunity to connect with us directly. I knew I wanted to be part of this great community!
Words of Wisdom for someone thinking of trying (Liberty Life) Yoga?
  • Definitely just give it a try. It can seem intimidating, like anything when you try it for the first time, but you’ll never truly know unless you experience it. In the chaotic world we live in today, it’s even more important to connect with something deeper. Yoga has something for everyone, whether it’s the physical practice of movement, the mental focus on stillness or the deeper connection to the breath.
